Andreja Slokar Claims Victory in Last Slalom of the Season

The last Slalom of the 2021-2022 ski season becomes Andreja Slokar's surprising second World Cup victory. The 24-year-old already showed a strong 1st run, and after a great second run, where she unpacked her full potential, she moved up to the top from 6th place to beat first-run leader Lena Duerr by a large margin of +0.48 seconds. The dominator of the Slalom's season Petra Vlhova finished in third place, +0.81 seconds behind Slokar.

It's the second victory and podium in the World Cup for the Slovenian. Slokar had only made it onto the World Cup Podium once, in November when she won the Parallel race in Lech-Zürs.

Until today her best result in Slalom was 4th place in Levi this season. She achieved her top result in February 2021 when she placed fifth in the Slalom at the World Championships in Cortina d'Ampezzo.

Petra Vlhová had already secured this season's slalom crystal globe. The Slovak also picked up Olympic gold in the slalom at the Beijing Winter Games. She finished on the podium in eight of the nine World Cup slalom events this season. She claimed five wins, finished runner-up to Mikaela Shiffrin twice, and third today in Courchevel-Meribel. She only missed the podium once when she finished 4th in Are last weekend.
