Andreja Slokar Claims Victory in Lech Zürs Parallel

The first and only parallel race of the 2021-2022 ski season becomes Andreja Slokar's surprising first World Cup victory.

Under the lights and an intense snowfall in Lech Zürs tonight, the 24-year-old Slovenian coped best with the conditions in Vorarlberg to win the Parallel race, beating Norwegian Thea Louise Stjernesund in the Big Final.

It's the first victory and podium in the World Cup for the Slovenian. Her best result was 8th place in Slalom in last season's Finals in Lenzerheide.

She achieved her top result this February when she placed fifth in the slalom event at the World Championships in Cortina d'Ampezzo.

I am feeling good”, Slokar said. “How else can you feel when you win our first race? I am so happy”.

Andreja Slokar also took the overall lead with 118 points.

Another Norwegian, Kristin Lysdahl beats Marta Bassino in the Small Final. She caught up against Bassino in the re-run and thus also heaved herself onto the surprising podium.

It's the first podium in the World Cup for the Norwegians skiers in an individual event. Lysdahl was part of the team that claimed victory in the Team Event in the Lenzerheide Finals.
