Mikaela Shiffrin Wins Downhill In Courchevel, Goggia Clinched the Crystal Globe

Mikaela Shiffrin wins the last Downhill of the season. Her previous win in a Downhill was in Bansko on 24 January 2020. Christine Scheyer and Joana Haehlen ex aequo finished in second place +0.10 seconds behind Shiffrin.

With start number 21, Shiffrin confirmed her best time in the second training. She celebrated her 74th World Cup victory, her third one in the Downhill and her fifth this season.

With today's victory, she takes a big step to win the Overall Crystal Globe. Shiffrin (2016/17, 2017/18, 2018/19), could become the third woman to win the Overall Crystal Globe more than three times, after Annemarie Moser-Pröll (6) and Lindsey Vonn (4).

Sofia Goggia clinched the Downhill Crystal Globe. Goggia previously won the Downhill globe in 2017-2018, and 2020-2021. She is the first woman since Lindsey Vonn (2014-2015 and 2015-2016) to claim the Downhill Crystal Globe in successive seasons.

She joins Vonn (8), Annemarie Moser-Pröll (7), Renate Götschl (5), Katja Seizinger (4) and Michela Figini (4) at the exclusive group of women who has win the Downhill title more than twice.
