Due to lack of snow and unusually warm temperatures, the Men's Audi FIS Ski World Cup Giant Slaloms scheduled in Val d'Isère (FRA) are canceled and will be rescheduled in Santa Caterina (ITA) on 5th - 6th December 2020.
The World Cup thus returns to Valfurva keeping the same dates, almost four years after the last competitions held on the "Deborah Compagnoni" slope when the Men's Super-G and Alpine Combined took place on 27 and 29 December 2016.
The organization of the race was taken over by the Italian Winter Sports Federation which this year will also take care of organizing two-speed events, a Downhill and a Super-G, in Bormio on 28 and 29 December.
"This is the umpteenth demonstration - said the FISI President, Flavio Roda - that the Italy of winter sports enjoys great international credibility, due to the achievements of its athletes and the realization of great events. As will happen in Santa Caterina, Italy proves to be able to organize a high-level World Cup stage in a few days, and this happens thanks to the work of great professionalism and to a great cohesion and passion of all the players in the mountain sector, which deserves greater attention from the country's top institutions, especially in this very delicate phase that sees the winter season at risk ".
The two Giant Slaloms of December 5th and 6th will thus open the Italian competition tour, which will continue with the traditional events of Val Gardena, Alta Badia, Madonna di Campiglio, Bormio, and Kronplatz, to end with the Cortina World Championships from 7 to 21 next February.
The program in Santa Caterina Valfurva will be the following: Giant Slalom, Saturday, December 5th. 1st run 10.30 / 2nd run 13:30 (CET) Giant Slalom, Sunday, December 6th. 1st run 10:00 / 2nd run 13:00 (CET)
