The Hinterglemmer Bergbahnen will celebrate its 75th anniversary in 2025 - an outstanding milestone celebrated in the Home of Snow in the run-up to the 2025 Saalbach World Ski Championships. The Home of Snow, a key meeting point for the international ski and winter sports community, provided the ideal setting for this special anniversary.
"Today, 75 years later, Hinterglemmer Bergbahnen GmbH stands for innovation and quality - a success story that inspires winter sports enthusiasts from all over the world. We are proud to be a company that not only shapes tourism in the region but also functions as a reliable year-round employer. Hikers, bikers, and especially families find their way to the Glemmtal in summer too, where we, the Hinterglemmer Bergbahnen, ensure unforgettable experiences with a varied range of activities," explains Hans Georg Bachmann, Managing Director of the Hinterglemmer Bergbahnen.
The Hinterglemmer Bergbahnen was founded in 1950 when the foundation for today's success was laid with the construction of the first drag lift on the 12er Kogel. At that time, the lift's capacity was 150 people per hour - today it is around 40,000 per hour in the entire Hinterglemmer area. What was once a modest lift operation has evolved into a major economic force for the region, actively shaping the future of winter sports with innovation and a sense of tradition.

Three ski resorts, and 1 Ski Area cover two Austrian states: Salzburg and Tirol.
The Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn, with its 270 kilometers of slopes, 70 ski lifts, and more than 60 mountain huts, is one of the largest ski areas in Austria.
With the addition of Fieberbrunn, in the neighboring region of Tyrol, the Skicircus has become a true mecca for freeride with miles of ski routes in the stunning scenery of the Kitzbühel Alps.

The Alpine Ski World Championships returned yesterday to Saalbach after 1991 with a special highlight: the opening of the Home of Snow.
Christian Scherer, Chairman of the Management Board and Secretary General of the Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV) was delighted with the successful start: "The Home of Snow is setting new standards by combining sport, culture, and innovation. It is more than just an event space - it is a place where the future of winter sports is actively shaped. In cooperation with the ÖSV and the host regions of Saalbach, SalzburgerLand, and Tyrol, we have today opened the doors of a unique meeting space for the first time, which combines real hospitality and emotional experiences. Here, ski stars are not only cheered on live but are also duly honored and celebrated after the official medal presentation."
Martin Enn, chairman of the Saalbach Hinterglemm Tourism Association, emphasized: "At the Home of Snow, we focus on people and their emotions - and in a very special way. It's about innovation, change, and making winter sports accessible and enjoyable for everyone. True to our motto 'Home of Casual', we want to set new standards and show that winter sports can be very different - casual."
In addition to dealing with future topics, visitors to the Home of Snow can expect the presentation of the new Ski Austria World Cup Schöffel racing suit. Additionally, the A1 Tech Talk will focus on technological innovations in the skiing industry. Under the motto "SkiVision", the ÖSV presents digital innovations in skiing, and the Future: Focus Talk provides insights into the latest developments in winter sports.
