The International Olympic Committee Confirms Freeride Inclusion in the Alps 2030 Olympic Winter Games

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has confirmed the inclusion of freeride skiing and snowboarding in the programme of the Alpes 2030 Olympic Winter Games, a first for a sport built on natural terrain and judged on the line a rider chooses.

From the first Xtreme Verbier in 1996 to the inaugural FIS Freeride World Championships in 2026, the FWT community has grown to more than 10,000 licensed riders and over 300 competitions each season across four continents. In 2030, freeriders will represent their nations on the biggest stage in sport.
